Care worker

We are looking for an experienced individual to support people with social and physical activities, booking and going with people to appointments, helping with personal care such as support with showering and dressing.

WMHC provide domiciliary care, assisted living and supported accommodation for the homeless.

WMHC endeavour to care, guide and support our service users while promoting independence in their day to day lives. We work with health authorities, government departments, councils, social enterprises and charities, being sympathetic with needs those who we support. We promote British Values which work in consonance with respecting our service user’s choices and beliefs.

Job description:

  • help with washing and dressing
  • make food or help with eating
  • get to know their interests and needs
  • do household jobs, like washing clothes and shopping
  • monitor their weight and record any concerns they have
  • check they’re taking their prescribed medications
  • support their physical and mental wellbeing through activities
  • work with other health and social care professionals
  • help organise leisure activities and outings
  • Assist with medication: completing the MAR chart (Medical Administration Record) the administration of medication as outlined in the care plan and with customer consent
  • Record keeping: MAR chart (for medication), log book (recording each visit to communicate to the next carer), care plan updates.
  • Promote independence: to allow the client to do as much as they can for themselves and only offer support where they need it
  • Work with empathy, honesty and integrity
  • Promoting health: Infection prevention, understanding illnesses including dementia and supporting with emergency first aid where necessary

Requirements:

  • You MUST have valid driver’s license and must have your own vehicle with valid insurance,
  • At least minimum 1-year experience in Care Work is preferred.
  • You MUST hold an Enhanced DBS certificate in date. You can however apply for a DBS through WMHC if you are successful with the interview stage.
